Zambia's neighboring states are Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Angola, DR Congo, Tanzania and Malawi. Payment is made with the currency kwacha. We'll give you these few facts in advance. What is it all for? So that you know a little more about Zambia than that it exists and has mutated into a holiday destination for many explorers.
Discover the highlands of Zambia
Zambia consists largely of plateaus that are around 1000 to 1400 meters above sea level. Apart from a few exceptions in the west on the border, along the Zambezi steep slope, the terrain is not necessarily rugged, but gently hilly. It is connected with the fact that there is a mild tropical climate here. The flora consists of savannahs. There, where the plateaus drop into deep valleys, you will find spectacular waterfalls, such as the Victoria Falls of the Zambezi. This is not the only reason why nature lovers get their money's worth. The national parks offer protection and are home to many wild animals. Examples are the South Luangwa National Park, the Blue Lagoon National Park, the Nsumbu National Park, to name just three of them.
The country and people of Zambia
Although mainly Bantu languages are spoken, the only valid official language is English. As a tourist you can get relatively far with it. The locals are mostly very friendly and relatively young - almost half of the residents are under 15 years old. Nature, country and people offer an incomparable cocktail.
