Things to know about the Florida Keys
Just like a string of pearls, 200 coral islands are strung together over a distance of approximately 290 kilometers. The former railway line, which was destroyed by a hurricane in 1953, was previously connected by 42 bridges. What hardly anyone suspects: the third largest coral reef in the world stretches beneath the surface of the water. It is also worth mentioning that the residents of the Keys wanted to become independent in 1982 under the name “Conch Republic”. Exceptionally, Key does not come from English, but from Spanish and means island.
Seven Mile Bridge
As the name suggests, the Seven Mile Bride is one of the longest bridge roads in the world. However, it doesn't measure 7 miles, but only 6.79. Another plus is that there is a parking lot right in front of the bridge. Good to know, because this one can only be seen very late.

Sandspur Beach is probably the most beautiful beach in the state park. The sand is white and the water is turquoise. There is also a kayak rental nearby, as well as drinks and ice cream. The entrance fee to Bahia State Park is moderate.
