Chile - a country full of contrasts

Finally summer has arrived. Nature blooms in all colors. The gray of the old snow and the wet spring have given way. You can actually enjoy the warm summer at home. Perhaps you are still drawn to the big wide world. When do you want to travel? How long do you have vacation? Where should it go? Which means of travel is particularly suitable for this? Let us help you a little with your brainstorming.

How about Chile?

Chile is not exactly an obvious holiday destination. At least not for those who are used to booking an all-inclusive vacation in Spain, Greece or Tunisia. Globetrotters and explorers will have a lot of fun with Chile. Chile is an incredibly diverse country in South America. It stretches for an incredible 4,200 km from north to south (as far as Antarctica) along the west coast of the continent, with an area twice as large as that of Germany. At the same time, only a good 18 million people live here - in Germany there are around 82 million. Spanish is spoken in Chile - the capital Santiago de Chile is centrally located, provided that one can speak of “central” with this elongated state.

Chile is incredibly versatile!

Let's take the climate as an example: In Chile you will find all global climate zones. The north is very mountainous. Many of the mountains are over 6,000 meters high. Between the coast and the Andes you will find one of the driest areas on earth - the Atacama Desert. Somewhat more central - in "Central Chile", on the other hand, there is an almost Mediterranean climate. This region is very fertile and densely populated. The region with the highest rainfall is in the south, which is also home to very rugged coasts and the island of Tierra del Fuego. Overall, the climate in Chile is very strongly influenced by the Humboldt Sea Current along the coast. Its origin lies in the Antarctic and it is correspondingly cool.

Or let's look at flora and fauna: you can find just about anything in this regard, too. Because depending on the temperature, precipitation or soil conditions, a wide variety of plants grow and thrive. Depending on the food available, you will also find a wide variety of animals. To protect both, there are numerous national parks that can be visited.

From a tectonical point of view, Chile is in a tricky place. Because the tectonic plates are constantly in motion, rubbing against each other or sliding over each other, there are always very strong earthquakes or volcanic eruptions in Chile and off the coast. What is a major challenge for the population is also a major plus point for tourism. In no other country in the world can you see volcanoes up close and travel from the desert along the coast of the sea to snow-covered areas within a few hours' drive. In Chile you can.

An extensive trip with a motorhome is worthwhile here. Because only with a habitable touring vehicle can you discover everything that is worth discovering without wasting time. If you can divide it up and have 3-4 weeks, then treat yourself to an extensive tour through one of the most diverse countries on earth.
