From the red carpet to the wilderness

The film city of Cannes is an ideal starting point for your motorhome journey, as you can collect your rental vehicle directly there. Before leaving the city behind, take a stroll along the legendary Croisette, admire the handprints of the stars at the Palais des Festivals, and enjoy the breathtaking view over the bay from the charming old quarter of Le Suquet. Once you take the wheel, the route leads inland to the perfume town of Grasse and continues along the historic Route Napoléon. It winds impressively through the pre-Alps and takes you straight to the natural wonder of the Gorges du Verdon. After circling the deep gorges and stopping at the turquoise Lac de Sainte-Croix, the return journey leads through the glowing lavender fields of the Plateau de Valensole back to the coast.

The wild Camargue

An ideal starting point for explorers is the lively port city of Marseille, from where you can head west into untamed nature with your camper. Before setting off, a visit to the Basilica of Notre-Dame de la Garde is recommended, offering a unique panoramic view over the Mediterranean. After enjoying fresh fish or an authentic bouillabaisse at the historic Vieux Port, the route stretches around 300 kilometres into the fascinating Camargue nature reserve. This region is a world of its own: vast salt flats where pink flamingos roam, and endless pastures grazed by the famous white Camargue horses and black bulls. A special highlight for motorhome travellers is the coastal town of Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, known for its pilgrimages and proximity to the sea. On the return journey, you have the opportunity to visit the city of Arles with its remarkably well-preserved Roman amphitheatre and immerse yourself in antiquity. The crowning finale is the medieval rock village of Les Baux-de-Provence, majestically perched above the Alpilles, offering sweeping views over the olive groves of Provence.

The heart of Provence

Start in the city of the popes, Avignon, and immerse yourself in classic postcard France. This route winds through the Luberon Regional Nature Park and leads to some of the “most beautiful villages in France”, including Gordes and Roussillon, famed for its intensely red ochre cliffs. Along the way, vineyards and small weekly markets line the route – perfect for stocking up the camper with delicious regional specialties. The crowning highlight is the view of the majestic Mont Ventoux.
