Morocco - for romantics and the adventurous
Have you already thought about your next vacation? Yes? Where is the journey going? How long will you be on the road? Oh, you don't have a target in your sights yet? Sorry, we were hasty and relied on the statistics, which say that the majority of Germans, Swiss and Austrians are already planning and booking their next annual vacation as soon as the most recent vacation has ended. But you are right. You don't have to plan so far in advance. It can also be done in the short term. And if you don't know where to go yet and you are a little adventurous, then we may have the right thing for you. How about a longer trip through Morocco?
About Morocco
The Kingdom of Morocco, as it is actually called, is a state in northwest Africa. Strictly speaking, only the Strait of Gibraltar, a strait, separates it from the European mainland. The area is over 400,000 square kilometers (a good 10 times the size of Switzerland). Around 35 million people live here. The capital is Rabat. You pay in the currency dirham, whereby 1 Swiss franc is worth about 10 dirhams.
Morocco is known for its hot climate. No wonder when you consider that it borders the Sahara in the south. But that makes this country a very popular holiday destination in the cold winter months. It is not uncommon for Europeans to spend the winter with mobile homes in Morocco and to travel to entire regions instead of just one place. The possibilities for this are available. Simply rent a motorhome for the planned duration and set off to explore. How could this look like?
A suggested route
Morocco has a lot to offer. The natural diversity is often underestimated. When thinking of Africa, most of us automatically think of the Sahara, desert, sand and heat. But that doesn't have to be the case, as the following destinations show.
In the north lies the Mediterranean and invites you to swim. But if you drive a bit inland, you can go skiing in Oukaïmden, for example. The climate allows it. And again a few hours away you can look forward to the gentle winds inland in Marrakech.
It is important that you bring a fair amount of time with you. Morocco is worth taking your time for such a tour. Start your tour in Casablanca, for example. Spend at least a week or two in the northern coastal regions. Do you want to experience a thoroughly oriental city? Then off to Marrakech. Those who penetrate further south can either take advantage of the skiing offer or penetrate into the Sahara. The country is wild, but it can also be romantic. Most of all, it's beautiful. You should definitely bring at least 4 weeks with you. You can rent the motorhome on site. Simply switch from the plane to the motorhome and drive off. A round trip has seldom been more convenient.
