Japan - an island nation of superlatives

If you want to visit a culture that is foreign to Central Europeans, travel to gigantic cities and explore vast stretches of land, Japan is in good hands. Japan is simply different. The country comprises a little less than 7,000 islands, which together make up around 380,000 square kilometers. It is home to over 120 million residents, most of whom are followers of Shinto and Buddhism. Those who travel here need not complain about the low population density. Because similar to Switzerland, just surrounded by the ocean, Japan is quite mountainous and by far not fully habitable.

Describing the climate is not easy because the island chain stretches in a long arc from the north (45th degree of latitude) over around 1,300 km to the south (20th degree of latitude). So you will find more or less all climatic conditions in the prefecture of Okinawa, from the cold-temperate climate zone with lots of snow in winter to the subtropical climate - apart from the tropics, deserts and steppes. The situation in the ocean means that one often suffers from strong whirlwinds (typhoons) that arise over the Pacific and heavy monsoon rains. Furthermore, Japan lies on the Pacific Ring of Fire - this is the volcanically active zone in which volcanic eruptions and earthquakes often occur. Because Japan is a high-tech country, there is no need to fear extreme weather, earthquakes or volcanic eruptions. On the contrary. The Japanese live very well in harmony with nature and know how to adapt. To a certain extent, we can take this fear away from you.

If you choose Japan as your travel destination, you choose a trip to a completely different culture. Everything is different from us. Not only the country, but also the people, the religion, the script and the diet, which we know at least partially from Japanese restaurants. You should therefore plan some time for a trip that you will still tell your grandchildren and great-grandchildren about with enthusiasm. It is worth it ..

By the way: In Japan, too, a motorhome is ideal for getting around and staying overnight. Request a rental offer for your desired dates in Japan directly on the home page. Good Trip!
