France - Mecca for gourmets and culture lovers
For countless people, France is the most diverse, tastiest and in many ways most exciting country in Europe. Here travelers experience a mix of artificial and natural beauty like nowhere else in Europe. In addition to lush forests, long coastlines and the highest mountain ranges in Europe, France offers many interesting sights. Discover a dizzying array of artistic and architectural wonders - exciting cathedrals, castles and museums full of cultural icons of the western world.
This diversity and an excellent road system make France the perfect country for a trip by motorhome. The capital Paris has been a cultural center not only of France but of all of Europe for centuries. Paris has sprawling boulevards, chic boutiques, and world-class art galleries and museums. However, it is probably better to park the motorhome outside the city and take the metro into the city to explore it, as parking in the city center is rare.
The Loire glides gently from east to west, officially separating the north of the country from the south of France. It empties a valley with fertile fields, criss-crossed by smaller rivers and with rolling hills ... the area is also blessed with an incredible selection of enchanting châteaux. Aside from Chartres with its mighty cathedral, the cities of the Loire are nothing unusual in themselves - it is the castles that you should see here.
Provence stretches along the Mediterranean coast from the Camargue to Marseille, and north along the Rhône Valley to Orange. The Romans were here for centuries, leaving behind innumerable ruins - some of the best in the world. Seven popes and renowned artists such as Vincent van Gogh and Paul Cézanne enjoyed their time in Provence. This destination offers a delightful recipe of arid climates, vineyards, dramatic landscapes, bustling cities and charming mountain villages.
In the northeast is Alsace. Framed by the Rhine in the east and the Vosges in the west, this is a green region with villages like from a storybook, countless vineyards and vibrant cities. Food and wine are the main industry, the most common topic of conversation, and the perfect excuse for countless festivals. The money you save by staying in a motorhome can then be spent in the numerous Alsatian restaurants, which are not always cheap, but are worth every penny you spend there.
Because of the numerous attractions it is very difficult to plan a trip to France. There is far too much to see, do, eat and drink.
