Norway - midnight sun, northern lights and wild nature
If you are looking for a wildly romantic experience, you will not be able to avoid looking at Norway as a travel destination. Norway is the northernmost country in Europe, one with an immensely high standard, a great quality of life and many highlights that one should have experienced and seen at some point. That is why we want to introduce Norway as a travel destination.
Some information about Norway
If you look at Norway on the globe, you realize that this Scandinavian country is enormous. The north-south distance from Norway is comparable to the distance from Hamburg to Rome. But the expansion from west to east is not to be despised either. The area measures around 385,000 square kilometers. The capital is Oslo. Norwegian and partly Sami are spoken. The form of government is a parliamentary monarchy and King Harald V rules. The state is not particularly densely populated. The country has a population of just 5.4 million. That may be because the far north is not worth living in for everyone. We only say: The country goes beyond the Arctic Circle. The midnight sun in the warm season is spectacular. The winters, however, are dark, long and cold.
The country is definitely interesting for tourists. Be it because of the exciting coast, where one fjord after the next, or because of the many lakes, the green forests or the extremely friendly locals.
Land of contrasts
In Norway there is almost nothing that does not exist. On one side the midnight sun, on the other the mystical northern lights. Here fjords, there inhospitable glaciers. Within a few hours you can get from the sea to the high mountains. You will find lovely valleys as well as barren mountain regions. And in addition to the few pulsating cities, there are also deserted areas where the wilderness reigns.
For traveling in summer
Norway is particularly beautiful from May to September. Especially if you want to feel the midnight sun on your own body. A day that never ends? This is possible above the Arctic Circle. If you want to hike, you should have good clothing. Even in June there can still be a lot of snow on the mountains. But at least everything that can be admired is open in summer. And life primarily takes place outdoors.
For traveling in winter
Don't worry - winters are not as cold as you might think. And you don't sink into snow either. February is a dry, cold month, but it doesn't feel that cold. The snow quality is usually excellent. If you want to enjoy winter sports, you can definitely do so from December to March.
A motor home is ideal
The motorhome is the ideal travel vehicle for Norway. The distances are great. It's worth being flexible and having your own accommodation with you. The motorhome offers incomparable advantages. And you can rent it on site. There is no more relaxed way to discover Norway.
