Costa Rica - General
Costa Rica is a rugged rainforest country in Central America with coastal stretches of the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific. The capital city of San José is home to various cultural institutions, including the Gold Museum with a pre-Columbian collection. Costa Rica is known for its beaches, volcanoes and biodiversity. About a quarter of the country's territory consists of protected jungle areas, in which numerous animals such as spider monkeys and quetzals live.

Costa Rica - Camping
In Costa Rica there are some campsites for travelers with Motorhomes, but only a few are equipped with hot water, electricity and sanitary facilities (toilet, shower, etc.). Basically, camping in Costa Rica is not very common - also because there are simple accommodations, so-called cabinas, available from a very reasonable price. However, there are some wonderful spots, nestled between lush tropical vegetation and only a few 100 meters from dreamlike beaches. Since Costa Rica - apart from the capital San José and the Caribbean city of Puerto Limon - is a relatively safer country, you can also camp wildly around Lake Arenal and on the Pacific coast. Wild camping is generally prohibited in Costa Rica, but camping outside of national parks is tolerated by backpackers in Costa Rica.

Costa Rica - Nature
Different vegetation zones and numerous nature reserves ensure breathtaking biodiversity in Costa Rica. Although Costa Rica is a relatively small country, it is home to approximately 6% of the world's species, which means that over 500,000 species identified are found in Costa Rica.
