Romania - more than Transylvania and Dracula

Romania as a holiday destination? This is not exactly obvious for many, but it should be a serious option for those who feel that they have seen and traveled almost everything. Because the country offers a lot more than most people assume. Enjoy great landscapes, cities, mountains and the sea. With a motorhome you are accordingly mobile and nothing slows down your desire to travel and discover. So that you can see how easy it is, let's elaborate our considerations a little further.

When you hear the name Romania, many of you inevitably think of Transylvania and Dracula. No wonder, because apart from this legend, the country is only sparsely represented in bestsellers and movies. There is a lot more to discover. Let's start with some facts and figures about the country that has formed the south-eastern edge of the EU since 2007.

The country with the capital Bucharest is a good five times the size of Switzerland and has almost two and a half times as many inhabitants as the Alpine republic. Romania represents the border area between Central and Southeastern Europe. The neighboring countries are Bulgaria, Serbia, Hungary, Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova. Although it borders the Black Sea, it extends over the Carpathian mountain range, reaching heights of up to over 2,500 m as far as the Pannonian Plain. The largest cities are Bucharest (1.9 million inhabitants), Klausenburg (Cluj-Napoca, 325,000 inhabitants), Timisoara (Timisoara, 320,000 inhabitants) and Jassy (Iasi, 290,000 inhabitants). A total of nine cities have more than 200,000 inhabitants.

Based on these facts, you can surely imagine that a round trip through Romania offers a lot of variety. How about, for example, one that leads through Transylvania and the Danube Delta? Or a relaxing holiday on the Romanian Riviera on the Black Sea? Or a little of all of that?

The wider you want your circles to be, the freer you need to be. A motorhome is the ideal travel vehicle for such activities. So that you don't start your journey in Central Europe and have to cross Austria and Hungary, you can fly to Bucharest and rent a motorhome there. Perhaps you will spend the first few days in the capital. Maybe you start right away and head north into the mountains. You keep the same direction when visiting Transylvania. The Riviera can be found in the southeast. The land is vast. To travel with a motorhome, however, is very comfortable and luxurious. You are independent and mobile. There is no other way to discover Romania in such a relaxed way.
