France's Atlantic coast

France is not only one of the largest, most powerful and richest countries in the EU, but also a popular holiday destination. That's why we want to take a closer look at some key data first. It is a good 630,000 square kilometers in size, almost twice the size of Germany. A good 68 million residents have settled here. For comparison: Germany has a population of just over 84 million. On the other hand, France has something that Germany does not have – sea connections in the south and in the north. The south is well known to most with the Mediterranean coast. But the north - with its paradisiacal sections of the Atlantic coast - is still undiscovered country for most people. Change that - it's worth it. Rent a mobile home so that you are mobile and flexible, plan around 2 to 3 weeks, set a rough itinerary. You will not regret it.

The top destinations of the Atlantic coast of France

What would be a must-visit list without the name of world-renowned Bordeaux wine? Even. The city near the coast in north-west France is a fixture. A must for every holidaymaker to plan a relaxing stopover here. Here you can not only drink delicious red wines and marvel at an old town worth seeing. You have to see, smell and feel nature up close. Then you will know why the best wines thrive on these soils. The Dune du Pilat is the largest shifting dune in Europe. It stretches from the sea to the lush green pine forests.

We continue our virtual journey north. One more city that should be familiar to most of you. We only say: Nomen est omen. Cognac. Or how about Saintes? There are some pretty impressive buildings from earlier times here. For example the L'Arc de Germanicus or the amphitheater or the Saint Peter's Cathedral of Saintes.

Then simply follow the compass needle north. You come to La Rochelle with the offshore island. The port is particularly worth seeing. Other destinations would be the big cities of Nantes and Rennes, where nightlife and/or culture take precedence before getting a close-up look at some of Brittany's wildest stretches of coastline. Did you know that this area served as a template for the Asterix comics? That is not by accident.

Conclusion

There are actually many more worthwhile destinations on the Atlantic coast. Too many to name them all. But with a mobile home you have the ideal means of travel to go on a discovery tour yourself. Try to bring as much time with you as possible. Then you can enjoy this trip to the fullest.
