Denmark - the pearl of Scandinavia
Denmark is the smallest of the Scandinavian countries and a large part consists of the Jutland peninsula, which borders Germany, and the islands of Funen, Lolland-Falster, and Zealand, on which the capital Copenhagen is located. An excellent road network makes exploring Denmark with a motorhome a real pleasure. The larger islands of Funen and Zealand can be reached by bridges, the countless smaller islands by car ferries. Because when you are in Denmark, you are never more than 50 km from the sea.
The Danish landscape in Jutland has rolling hills and beech forests, small villages with thatched farmhouses and whitewashed churches like something out of a picture book. A trip with the motorhome is a lot of fun.
A visit to Denmark with children will not be complete without a visit to the original Legoland in Billund. So that would also be a good starting point for a tour of Denmark. Then turn east to the island of Funen, the third largest island in the country. The largest city on the island is Odense, the birthplace of the storyteller Hans Christian Anderson. The house where he was born is now a museum in the historical part of the city. He used his humble childhood life as an inspiration for many of his fairy tales.
We continue to the island of Zealand and the capital Copenhagen. It is an unlikely combination of kitschy Danish clichés, a business district with cutting-edge, contemporary architecture and one of the most unconventional artistic cultures in Europe. An interesting day on the canals, a stroll through the royal palace and the old town will give you a sense of the history of this fun-loving metropolis. You should also visit Strøget. It was the first and is still the largest pedestrian shopping center in Europe today. You can't say you've been to Copenhagen without visiting the Tivoli Gardens, which opened in 1843 and which still pulsates with energy and life.
