Bulgaria - between tradition and modernity
Bulgaria is a fascinating, rapidly changing country in Eastern Europe. Here, shiny BMWs share the road with horse-drawn carriages. The local cuisine, an unusual mixture of Slavic and Mediterranean cuisine, will pleasantly surprise you, and you shouldn't forget to try the original Bulgarian yogurt, because this is where yogurt comes from. The robust Bulgarian wine of the valleys goes perfectly with this cuisine.
Bulgaria has been the largest rose oil producer in the world for centuries and the cultivation of lavender is now widespread. From the end of May to the end of June it is harvest time in the Valley of the Roses and on weekends there are rose festivals all over the area. It is not far from the Valley of the Roses to Nessebar. This is a small town that is often referred to as the "Pearl of the Black Sea".
